Payroll Specialist | Tampa, FL | $20 - $22hr.

The payroll specialist will be responsible for all payroll-related tasks. This charge includes collecting and reviewing employee information and working hours, verifying wages, preparing and processing employee payments in a timely manner and maintaining accurate payroll records. It will also be called upon to help with reconciling payroll-related invoices, auditing PTO balances, and ensuring accurate entry/auditing of benefits costs. This role will also partner with the commissions accountant to ensure timely and accurate entry of commissions into the payroll system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Prepare and process bi-weekly payrolls
* Review weekly time sheets for all departments/obtain manager approvals for timesheets
* Enter data into payroll and administrative databases and payroll software programs
* Follow defined payroll approval processes and maintain documentation
* Maintain accurate records of payroll documentation
* Work with HR Coordinator to set up employees in HRIS/Payroll system
* Calculate ad-hoc wages, benefits, tax deductions, etc. as needed
* Collect W-4s & update direct deposits
* Applies garnishments through payroll software
* Oversee, audit and reconcile PTO
* Work with commissions accountant to ensure timely payment of bonuses/commissions
* Work with Sr. Payroll Specialist to audit benefits invoices
* Assists in collecting data for assigned audits
* Communicate tax filings to Sr. Payroll Specialist and Director, Human Resources
* Assist HR Coordinate with filing responsibilities
* Performs additional duties as assigned by Director, Human Resources

Education and Work Experience
* High school diploma/GED is required; higher education or applicable certifications are desirable
* 3-5 years' experience working in a dedicated payroll processing role or with a PEO is required
* Demonstrable knowledge of basic accounting principles and payroll practices is required
* Experience working with a variety of payroll software systems is required - those with CertiPay or Paychex experience will be given preference
* High numerical aptitude and attention to detail
* Prior experience working in call centers is strongly preferred
* Demonstrable competency with Microsoft Office applications
* Ability to work under pressure and within deadlines, while maintaining attention to detail
* Professional in appearance, presentation and demeanor
* Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse range of individuals, both within and outside of the Company
* Able to work independently and as part of a team
* Effective time management skills
