Senior Ruby Engineer | 100% Remote (UK Based Candidates) | £60,000 - £90,000

I am exclusively engaged with an award-winning and innovative Tech Organisation, headquartered in the US but with a fully remote workforce spread across the US, UK and Canada. They are going through a period of sustained growth and are looking to hire a Senior Ruby Engineer, ideally with a 'full stack' background and skilled in Ruby on Rails, with some additional skills in JavaScript.

This organisation aren't some fly-by-night start-up; rather, they have been established in the SaaS/Cloud space for a number of years and have created a state-of-the-art SaaS platform that is used by 2,000+ organisations across 40 different countries... not bad eh?

Role Overview

Your role will see you work in a fully remote capacity, working as a Senior Software Engineer on a brand new product with a focus on Ruby (specifically Ruby-on-Rails), JavaScript, TypeScript and React. You will be embedded within a distributed team, focusing on Agile/Scrum methods as well as DevOps and CI/CD processes. Moreover, you will be expected to always focus on a quality-first approach, with an overriding focus on maintainability, documentation, and leaving code better than how you found it.

Remote Working

This role is 100% remote (forever, not just during COVID) and despite this organisation being based in the US, there isn't any crazy expectation for you to spend 2/3 day's per week/month over there! It is remote. Genuinely.

Role Requirements

In terms of their expectations from you, rather than simply copying and pasting the JD, I have decided to pick out the key requirements below:
  • Programming Skills - You should ideally have skills in Ruby (Ruby-on-Rails) and JavaScript (Vanilla, ES6), with additional experience in TypeScript being beneficial rather than essential.
  • Web Development - This is a 'full stack' role so proven web skills in HTML/CSS and JS framework development in Redux/React would be hugely beneficial.
  • CI/CD & DevOps - Experience working with tools such as Git, Jenkins, Docker etc. (not essential).
  • Personality - Hard-working, genuinely into technology and happy working remotely!
  • Delivery - Knowledge of Agile/Waterfall delivery methods.
