DevOps Engineer

A great customer experience starts with getting the basics right: enabling developers to effectively manage applications and infrastructure. Our team of software, security, DevOps, and integration engineers is building the future of engineering platforms at Zurich, which are consumed by teams across the organization. Together we enable other developer teams by providing self-service platforms, Microservices, APIs, Observability, Enterprise Search, Security, Event Streaming, and other components.


Role & Responsibilities

• Drive the creation, architecture and implementation of the DevOps roadmap for our Observability & Enterprise Search landscape
• Create and deploy containerized solutions with an eye on supporting the evolution of our existing services and automations
• Manage and continuously improve the container management platform with the goal of reducing operational tasks and minimize deployment and upgrade times
• Collaboratively develop prototypes to validate concepts and innovate the way we bring value with our platform
• Ensure effective knowledge sharing in the team (pair programming, documentation, demos, etc.)
• Be a part of a virtual DevOps team and co-create shared standards, patterns and libraries
• Identify technical gaps and address these together with the team
• Some of the tasks on our roadmap are:
• Enhance and extend existing automation
• Streamline governance in a multi-tenant setup
• Implement Observability for CI/CD
• Implement security-by-design for Kafka, AKS resources and APIs

Skills & Qualifications

• Experienced with cloud infrastructure (ideally Azure or AWS)
• Experienced in container management solutions (e.g. AKS, EKS, Kubernetes, Rancher, Istio, Docker)
• Experienced with CI/CD, IaC and other DevOps tools like: Terraform, Helm, Azure DevOps, Git, Unix Shell, Azure CLI
• Experienced in a programming and a scripting language (e.g., Java, Python, Go, C#, Shell) and understand query languages
• Knowledge of networking, security, automation, Unix and data technologies
• Elasticsearch experience is a plus
• Good communicator
• Fluent in English
