Role & Responsibilities:



As a Senior Resident Network Engineer/Consultant in Chantilly, VA, your role will be pivotal in shaping the future of networking. You'll be entrusted with the following responsibilities:



  • Leverage Your Expertise: Utilize your 10+ years of deep understanding of routing and switching protocols, including OSPF, BGP/MP-BGP, and MPLS, to provide expert guidance and support.


  • Enhance Network Efficiency: Apply your direct knowledge of L2 and L3 multicast deployments to boost network functionality and efficiency.


  • Optimize Infrastructure: Take a critical role in configuring and testing hardware, networking software, and operating system software, ensuring peak network performance.


  • Evaluate New Technologies: Participate actively in evaluating new network technologies, providing valuable recommendations for their seamless integration into the existing network architecture.


  • Ensure Network Reliability: Support routine network startup and shutdown procedures, maintain meticulous control records, and effectively administer networks, including hardware, software, and configurations.


  • Resolve Issues: Diagnose hardware and software issues, promptly replace defective components as needed, and perform long-term O&M activities, including tier 3 troubleshooting.


  • Document Thoroughly: Maintain meticulous logs and records associated with reported problems or situations, and prepare comprehensive troubleshooting procedures to restore the network to optimal performance levels.


  • Pursue Certifications: Encourage continuous improvement by pursuing certifications such as JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIE, CCNP, CCIE.




Skills & Qualifications:



To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and qualifications:



  • Security Clearance: Ensure you hold a TS/SCI with CI Polygraph clearance, as it's imperative for this role.


  • Technical Mastery: Showcase your demonstrated technical expertise in configuring, troubleshooting, and operating IP-based routers, switches, and security devices.


  • Certifications: Hold a Security+ certification, which is a requirement, and consider obtaining CASP or CISSP for added advantage.


  • Juniper Products: Demonstrate your experience with Juniper products, including MX, EX, QFX, and SRX.


  • Networking Protocols: Leverage your strong understanding of OSPF, BGP/MP-BGP, MPLS, and multicast deployments to excel in this role.


  • Analytical Skills: Utilize your proficiency in complex network analysis tools to efficiently identify and resolve network issues.


  • Communication Skills: Exhibit strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, coupled with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
