Job Description

I am working with a leading GCP partner in the UK, who are currently hiring into their data practice for a Data architect. My client are working on a number of exciting & substantial GCP projects and this role will be supporting the architecture of these projects.

Role & Responsibilities
    • Technical Lead on client engagements and on client facing delivery projects
    • Consult, design, coordinate architecture to modernise infrastructure for performance, scalability, latency, reliability
    • Consult on various technologies; databases, data warehousing and big data e.g. BigQuery, Oracle, Redshift, Teradata, Hadoop
    • Design data storage, movement and orchestration solutions
    • Identify, scope and participate in the design and delivery of cloud data platform solutions
    • Design and execute a platform modernisation approach for customers' data environments
    • Design, coordinate and execute pilots, prototypes or proof of concepts, provide validation on specific scenarios and provide deployment guidance
    • Design Data Architectural solutions for structured data technologies and understand unstructured data technologies
    • Create and maintain appropriate standards and best practices around Google Cloud data products.
    • Define and communicate complex database concepts to technical and non-technical people
    • Document and share technical best practices/insights with engineering colleagues and the architect community
    • Mentor and develop architects and engineers within clients Data team
    • Act as the point of escalation for architects and engineers with client facing problems that need solving

Skills & Qualifications
    • Commercial / Production project experience using Google Cloud (Previously known as GCP)
    • Experience as a Data Architect - who can step in to engineer when required (python, SQL)
    • Knowledge of ETL patterns for data ingestion
    • The ability to create and interpret solution designs using UML / ERD diagrams
    • Experience in optimising performance and monitoring of hybrid on-premise and cloud data warehouse solutions
    • Familiar with common enterprise data governance standards and requirements

    • 25 days annual leave, with an additional 1 day added for each year served for the first 3 years (for a maximum of 28 days after 3 years)
