Principal Engineer - GCP

Our client are an established GCP specialist Company who need a senior GCP Engineer and understand DevOps, SRE and Architecture in order to drive the Google Cloud Practise.



You

This role is responsible for providing technical leadership on architecting, development, deployment and operation of our clients Platform in GCP. The role will work closely with infrastructure teams as well as cloud operations and SRE teams to guarantee that our clients Platform delivers the same service levels as currently delivered in AWS.

Your Day To Day

• Act as a Subject Matter Expert to the organization for GCP working with infrastructure and SRE teams.
• Support technical design discussions for marquee customers that use GCP
• Design a blueprint for our client in GCP and work with teams to implement it
• Contribute to the cloud first strategy
• Contribute as a Technical Team Lead by mentoring others, lead sprint planning, delegating work and assignments to team members and participate in project planning
• Introduce tools to facilitate greater automation and operability of services
• Utilize your deep experience and problem solving skills to help prevent and investigate production issues
• Write Infrastructure as Code to Manage and Operate end-to-end lifecycle operations (monitoring, alerting, security, cost optimization, configuration, backup etc.) in production environments

You Have & You Know-how

• At least 8+ years experience in a platform or dev-ops team in a SaaS environment and supporting mission critical services.
• At least 3+ years in GCP cloud computing environment with a deep understanding of its managed services
• At least 5+ years experience with distributed systems dealing with large volumes of data (e.g. distributed databases, spark workloads, highly stateful services)
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code toolsets (e.g. Terraform, Vault, Packer etc.)
• Experience with configuration management tools (e,g, Ansible, Chef, Puppet)
• Experience in designing, implementing and operating Kubernetes clusters on GCP
• Experience with monitoring tacks such as ELK, TIG or equivalent

You Have

• Excellent communication skills
• The ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization, and the ability to meet deadlines
• GCP and K8s certifications or equivalent are valued
• Experience with high throughput, low latency system
