Databricks Platform Engineer - Outside IR35 Contract

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Azure infrastructure using Terraform.
• Implement governance and compliance controls, including Azure Policy.
• Configure and manage Azure Private Link and Private Link Service.
• Enable advanced data services with Databricks and Unity Catalog for data governance.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Ensure security best practices, including Defense in Depth, BCDR, and high availability.
• Manage identity and access, including OAuth and federated credentials.
• Optimise cloud costs and monitor usage effectively.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience with Terraform for Azure infrastructure as code.
• Strong knowledge of GitHub Actions and CI/CD principles.
• Strong experience with Databricks and Unity Catalog for advanced data governance.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Private Link and Private Link Service.
• Strong understanding of Azure security best practices and compliance.
• Experience in identity and access management.
• Familiarity with Azure cost management strategies.

Additional Details

• Must be available to start in November.
• Outside IR35 contract.
• Home-based.
• 3-month initial term with potential for extension.

• Designing and optimising Azure-based data models and pipelines

• Design, develop, and optimise scalable data pipelines in Snowflake.

• Develop modular, reusable transformations using SQL and Python.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and manage deployments via Git.
• Automate workflows using orchestration tools such as Airflow or dbt Cloud.
• Configure and optimise Snowflake warehouses for performance and cost efficiency.

• 7+ years in data engineering roles.
• 3+ years hands-on experience with Snowflake.
• 2+ years production experience with dbt (mandatory).
• Advanced SQL and strong Python programming skills.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Knowledge of Snowflake features such as Snowpipe, streams, tasks, and query optimisation.

• Snowflake certifications (SnowPro Core or Advanced).
• Experience with dbt Cloud and custom macros.
• Exposure to real-time streaming (Kafka, Kinesis).
• Familiarity with data observability tools and BI integrations (Tableau, Power BI).

• Deliver changes to the client's existing reporting system, and to reverse engineer existing reports
• Develop new reports on top of the client's new Data Platform solution

• Develop and optimize data pipelines on Azure and Databricks
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to deliver actionable insights
• Implement best practices for data governance and security
• Work in a hybrid setup (2 days per week in our London office)
