Engineering Director - ML/AI Platforms | Hybrid (40% remote)🚨

We're looking for an experienced and strategic Director of Engineering to lead the design, deployment, and scaling of our ML/AI platforms. This is a high-impact leadership role in AI projects in Spain - with growing international presence and collaboration. 🌍 Location: Hybrid model with 3 days/week onsite (Donostia - San Sebastián)

🔧 What You'll Be Leading:
  • Strategic direction and technical leadership for the design, deployment, and optimization of ML/AI projects.
  • Building and scaling cloud-native infrastructure across AWS and Azure, with a focus on performance, security, and reliability.
  • Overseeing the full lifecycle of AI/ML systems in production, including DevOps/MLOps practices, automation, and monitoring.
  • Driving the implementation of infrastructure as code using Terraform, containerization with Docker, and orchestration via Kubernetes.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with data science, engineering, and product teams to ensure systems align with business objectives.
  • Evaluating and integrating tools for Large Language Models (LLMs), including frameworks like LLaMa or similar technologies.
  • Leading and mentoring a team of engineers, fostering a culture of excellence, ownership, and continuous learning.


What You Bring:
  • 8+ years of experience in engineering roles, with at least 3 years in technical leadership or director-level positions.
  • Proven experience deploying ML/AI systems in production environments at scale.
  • Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS and Azure) and cloud-native architectures.
  • Strong background in SaaS environments and distributed systems.
  • Expertise in Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
  • Solid understanding of DevOps/MLOps pipelines and best practices.
  • Familiarity with LLMs and experience working with related tooling (e.g., LLaMa or similar).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Minimum C1 level of English (spoken and written) required.

Role:
  • Collaborate with the senior director of partnerships and Alliances to develop and execute strategies that drive growth across cloud partnerships in your region.
  • Generate new leads and opportunities by working closely with partners and actively engaging in prospecting efforts.
  • Leverage executive-level relationships to elevate Impetus' visibility and position as a trusted advisor to both clients and partners.
  • Partner with assigned account managers/directors and pre-sales engineering teams to craft compelling proposals and foster strong, long-term relationships.
  • Support and execute cloud go-to-market strategies with partners, aligning with their field organisations to ensure sales synergy.
  • Coordinate with marketing and Partner Solution Architects to enable partner field teams and amplify field engagement.
  • Lead and participate in joint Impetus and partner field events.
  • Identify and document partner programs that support sales and marketing investments.
Experience: 10 to 15 years
