
Platform Engineer - Outside IR35 - Remote
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled
Platform Engineer with strong expertise in
Microsoft Azure and
Azure Databricks to design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing data platforms. You will play a critical role in enabling data engineering, analytics, and AI workloads by developing robust cloud-native infrastructure and data services.
This role sits at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and data engineering, ensuring platform reliability, performance, and governance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain cloud-native platform solutions in Microsoft Azure
Build, optimize, and manage data platforms using Azure Databricks
Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates
Implement CI/CD pipelines for data and platform deployments
Ensure high availability, scalability, security, and cost optimization of cloud infrastructure
Collaborate with data engineers, ML engineers, and application teams to support data ingestion, transformation, and analytics workloads
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot infrastructure and data pipeline issues
Implement governance, role-based access control (RBAC), and data security best practices
Support DevOps practices, including automated testing, environment management, and release management
Document platform architecture, standards, and operational procedures
Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services (e.g., VNet, ADLS, Key Vault, Azure SQL, AKS)
Strong experience with Azure Databricks including cluster configuration, job orchestration, and performance tuning
Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
Strong scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, or Bash)
Experience with Git-based workflows and CI/CD tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)
Understanding of data lake architectures (Medallion architecture preferred)
Knowledge of cloud security, networking, and identity management
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Delta Lake and Spark performance tuning
Familiarity with data governance and catalog tools
Experience supporting ML workloads in Databricks
Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, or Data Engineer Associate)
Experience in regulated environments (finance, healthcare, etc.)
