Data Engineer with strong expertise in
Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to join its expanding technology team. This is a rare opportunity to shape and scale a next-generation data platform at an enterprise level, supporting data-driven decision-making across a complex, fast-paced business.
The successful candidate will help architect and deliver robust GCP-based data solutions, drive automation, and play a central role in building a best-in-class data ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using GCP-native services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Composer, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Storage (GCS).
Support the end-to-end data lifecycle - from ingestion and transformation to modelling and serving - optimised for performance and cost-efficiency.
Collaborate closely with stakeholders across data science, analytics, engineering, and operations to align data capabilities with business needs.
Drive automation and CI/CD for data workflows using Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Deployment Manager) and DevOps practices.
Implement data governance frameworks including metadata management, lineage tracking, role-based access control, and data quality monitoring using tools such as GCP Data Catalog.
Contribute to a hybrid cloud data architecture, integrating GCP with other platforms (e.g., Azure) where needed.
Ensure compliance with data privacy and regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR), in collaboration with security and compliance teams.
Key Skills and Experience
Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, including:
BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Composer, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, IAM
Experience with ETL/ELT design, orchestration, and real-time or batch processing in GCP environments.
Proficiency in Python or PowerShell for scripting and pipeline automation.
Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform) and experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
Familiarity with cloud monitoring, logging, and cost optimisation tools such as Stackdriver and Cloud Monitoring.
Experience implementing data governance and security best practices (e.g., RBAC, encryption, auditing).
Solid understanding of data modelling, data warehousing, and analytics integration.
Experience integrating with visualisation platforms such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or Domo.
Insurance industry data knowledge (e.g., policies, premiums, claims) is beneficial but not required.
