Overview:
We are looking for a driven and detail-oriented professional to join our client's cybersecurity team. This role is ideal for someone with foundational experience in IT security and a strong desire to develop further in a fast-evolving security landscape. You will play a critical role in daily security operations and help enhance the organization's defense posture.

Key Responsibilities:

• 
  
  Assist in the monitoring and maintenance of IT security systems under the guidance of senior staff
• 
  
  Support day-to-day security operations and respond to potential network or security incidents
• 
  
  Serve as the first point of contact for handling frontline network and security alerts
• 
  
  Perform configuration and basic implementation tasks on firewall and intrusion prevention systems (e.g., Fortinet)
• 
  
  Manage and assign system access rights across production, testing, and development environments
• 
  
  Provide administrative support for network security tools, ensuring continued protection and reliability
• 
  
  Assist in the analysis of potential cyber threats using tools such as FortiAnalyzer, ELK Stack, and Splunk
• 
  
  Contribute to vulnerability assessments, security reviews, and system hardening efforts across various platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, CentOS, Ubuntu)

Requirements:

• 
  
  Higher Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
• 
  
  Minimum of 2 years' experience in IT security operations, network administration, or similar roles
• 
  
  Exposure to IT risk management, system access governance, or internal control processes
• 
  
  Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISA, NSE, or CCNP are highly desirable
• 
  
  Familiarity with coordinating or supporting cybersecurity initiatives or audits
• 
  
  Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively
• 
  
  Candidates with less experience but strong potential and learning mindset will also be considered

Cloud Security Engineer - London - £480/pd Outside IR35

Please note - this role will require you to work from the London based office 1-2 days per week. You must have the unrestricted right to work in the UK to be eligible for this role.

About the Role

A digitally driven reinsurance broker is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to play a key role in strengthening its cloud security posture across multi-cloud environments. This is a hands-on contract role focused on designing, implementing, and maintaining secure cloud environments, with a strong emphasis on leveraging the latest Google Cloud Platform (GCP) technologies.

You'll work closely with engineering, operations, and compliance teams to embed security best practices across platforms including GCP, Azure, and M365.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage cloud security policies and solutions for GCP and Azure.
• Configure and maintain security tools such as Cloud IAM, Security Command Center, VPC Service Controls, Azure Security Center, Azure AD, and Microsoft Defender for Cloud.
• Conduct security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing.
• Monitor cloud environments for threats and lead incident response efforts.
• Integrate security into the CI/CD pipeline and ensure secure configurations.
• Develop and enforce cloud security policies aligned with regulatory and internal frameworks.
• Provide guidance on data protection, network security, and identity and access management.
• (Desirable) Assess and enhance Salesforce security, including data protection and access controls.

Desirable Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in cloud or information security.
• Proven experience securing Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments.
• Strong understanding of cloud security principles and native controls.
• Experience with incident response and threat modelling.
• Relevant certifications such as:
  • Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer
  • Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500)
  • Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)

Responsibilities

• Provide in-house IT infrastructure monitoring, troubleshooting and maintenance for system OS, virtualization platforms, and backup solutions to meet company needs
• Manage and monitor virtualization environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) to ensure high availability and performance
• Cooperate with other teams/departments and/or other teams from group companies to provide necessary IT infrastructure to accomplish project objectives.
• Manage and operate multi-layer aspects of company IT infrastructure including public cloud services, on-premise servers, networking, monitorings and data backup
• Liaise with vendors and third parties for project execution in accordance to business needs.

Requirements

• At least 5 years relevant experience in IT infrastructure / IT operations in Windows/Linux Server system
• Experience in system OS administration (e.g., Windows, Linux)
• Experience in managing virtualization environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
• Experience in managing public cloud environments (eg., AWS, Azure, OCI)
• Relevant certifications (e.g., VMware Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator) are a plus
• Experience in migration projects involving system OS and virtualization platforms
• Practical experience managing and supporting virtualization and backup solutions
