Job description



Our client is building the future of decentralized applications and is currently expanding their Web3.0 team in Hong Kong (30+ members and growing). They are looking for a Back-end Development Engineer with solid backend experience who is passionate about learning and working in the Web3/blockchain space.

Key Responsibilities



  • Design and develop backend systems, APIs, and microservices for Web3 applications


  • Integrate with blockchain platforms and smart contracts (training provided)


  • Collaborate with front-end, DevOps, and blockchain teams


  • Ensure system scalability, performance, and security


  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code


  • Stay up to date with backend and Web3 technologies

Requirements



  • 1-5 years of experience in backend development


  • Proficiency in at least one backend language: Go or Python,


  • Familiar with RESTful APIs or GraphQL
  • Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)


  • Understanding of microservices architecture and version control (Git)


  • Strong willingness to learn Web3 and blockchain technologies

Nice to Have (Not Required)



  • Familiarity with Ethereum, Solidity, or smart contracts


  • Experience with Web3 libraries (e.g., Web3.js, Ethers.js)


  • Exposure to containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

About the Role



Our client, a leading global financial institution, is seeking a Golang + Smart Contract Engineer to strengthen its core system development team. The role will focus on building highly secure, scalable, and compliant systems that enable digital asset processing, settlement, and smart contract-driven workflows within the bank's global platforms.


Key Responsibilities



  • Core System Development


    • Design, build, and maintain enterprise-grade backend systems using Golang.


    • Ensure high availability, low-latency, and fault tolerance for mission-critical applications.


  • Smart Contract Engineering


    • Develop and integrate smart contracts into core systems for functions such as trade settlement, asset tokenization, and automated compliance checks.


    • Perform rigorous testing and security validation before deployment into production.


  • System Integration & Compliance


    • Integrate blockchain-based solutions with the bank's existing core platforms (payments, custody, settlement, risk systems).


    • Ensure solutions meet global regulatory, compliance, and security standards.


  • Collaboration


    • Work closely with architects, cybersecurity teams, and business stakeholders to align blockchain-enabled solutions with enterprise objectives.


    • Provide technical input into architecture decisions, code reviews, and risk assessments.



Requirements



  • Strong programming skills in Golang, with experience in enterprise-grade systems development.


  • Hands-on experience with smart contract development (Solidity, Rust, or equivalent).


  • Solid understanding of distributed ledger technology and its application in financial services.


  • Experience in secure coding, system integration, and performance optimization.


  • Background in financial services, core banking systems, or large-scale transaction platforms is strongly preferred.


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience with EVM-compatible blockchains or enterprise DLT frameworks (Hyperledger, Quorum, Corda).


  • Familiarity with financial regulations, risk controls, and compliance frameworks.


  • Knowledge of cloud-native architectures (Kubernetes, Docker, AWS/GCP).


  • Experience with cryptographic protocols and secure key management.

We are looking for an experienced Back end Java Developer to join a long-standing organisation as they maintain and modernise a mission-critical core system that has been the backbone of their business for over two decades.



About the Role



You will work primarily on a large-scale back end system built in Java 8. The role requires strong expertise in working with complex legacy systems, ensuring stability and performance, while also playing a key part in the company's modernisation and cloud migration journey.

A major part of the transformation will involve upgrading to newer Java versions and migrating the system to Microsoft Azure. Your technical insight and problem-solving skills will help shape the next generation of the platform.



Responsibilities

  • Understand, maintain, and enhance a 20-year-old Java-based back end system.
  • Ensure performance, stability, and reliability of business-critical processes.
  • Drive modernisation efforts, including upgrades to newer Java versions.
